While learning about Earth science, geology, and the rock cycle, junior ELED majors participated in a mineral identification laboratory activity in their Elementary Science Methods (ED306) course. #MillikinEducation

On Wednesday, Jr. Elementary Education majors in Dr. Cunnings' ELED Science Methods course learned about energy, electricity, the Next Generation Science Standards, and design-based scientific inquiry. Students participated in active demonstrations creating different circuits.

Coffee beans, chopsticks, and teamwork—ED 401 Integrating Culture in the Classroom students explored cultural tools in this interactive classroom activity. Sometimes, a simple activity can open up conversations about culture and tradition.

Congratulations to Senior Elementary Education major Aly Barnes on earning the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) First Team All-American honors in the 2024 NCAA National Championships as well being named a CTCA Scholar All-American! #MillikinEducation

Before winter break, Dr. Choi and his students had an incredible experience at Villa Grove High School, where 4 exchange students from Spain led an engaging session with the Spanish Club! A huge thank you to Millikin alumna Ms. Elizabeth Nieto for inviting them to the fun event.

The ED 209 Foundations of ESL & Bilingual Education class had an incredible visit to Johns Hill Magnet School, observing bilingual and ESL classrooms in action! It was inspiring to see several Millikin SOE graduates thriving as teachers and making a difference.

ED204 recently had a book tasting event. Students got to “sip” on different books to see new genres in children’s literature and see how to create an event like this in their own classrooms! #MillikinEducation

ED 207 Elementary Social Studies Methods class explored history at the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL! This hands-on experience showed us how museums can teach beyond the textbook—bringing stories to life, sparking curiosity, and deepening understanding. #MillikinEducation

First year Education majors presented the results of their student-driven inquiry projects. Students in this course got to do a deep dive in pairs or independently into a education topic they were most interested in learning more about. The presentations have been outstanding!
