OTD 1982 David Chapman-trained Soba (David 'Dandy' Nicholls) won the Steward's Cup at Goodwood. Starting from the supposedly hopeless No.1 draw Soba (S.P. 18-1) led all the way to win in record time of 1min 9.58sec for the 6 furlongs. She won 11 times in '82.๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ‘#RacingMemories

In 1973 & 1974 the ๐ŸŒŸfilly Dahlia won the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at 3 & 4 years old respectively for French-based trainer Maurice Zilber & owner Nelson Bunker Hunt. Bill Pyers won by 6 lengths in '73 & Lester Piggott won by 2.5 lengths in '74. ๐Ÿ‡#RacingMemories

OTD 1969: 7 weeks after sending out his first winner Celestial Cloud; Henry Cecil gained his first major success when Wolver Hollow (Lester Piggott) won the Eclipse Stakes by 2.5 lengths from Park Top & Hogarth in 3rd. It was also Lester's 6th win in the race. ๐Ÿ‡#RacingMemories
