But we also need to properly address the risks of lesser events that cumulatively create big strategic advantages for adversaries like the CCP. The 1,000 cuts the CCP is administering "under the dome" in America requires us to take this slow hemorrhage more seriously.

We need a more mature evaluation of risks to the nation. We should rightly prepare for possible catastrophic and major changes, what I call combustible events that may be sudden and consequential. See our traditional risk evaluation matrix here:

We're not going back to the old world order. China is delighted to place the blame on the US for destroying it. Xi is confident trends are now on his side & he has even greater prospects of winning global influence, marginalizing the US, & reshaping the world on his terms.

Any superpower that hopes to build its power & prosperity must have a constructive, inspiring vision for the world and responsibly pursue that vision. Unfortunately, right now, China has a better vision than the U.S., and momentum is swinging in their direction.

We need better defenses to prevent or prevail in war, but we can’t solely obsess on combustible events. Equally damaging are CCP political warfare & RUS active measures to steal, exploit, & co-opt us from the inside out. Both gunshots and diseases risk mortal danger. Red’s game

Inconvenient truths about CCP political warfare inside the U.S. I don't use the term "silent invasion" lightly, but it's true we are being exploited from the inside out on our home soil by the CCP. And Beijing has been wildly successful in suppressing U.S. discussion about this

5/5 In facing the PRC challenge (and other "red" actors), we need healthy and capable tools of national power; therefore, hollowing our diplomatic and information instruments right now is 100% counterproductive. We're beyond economizing; we're euthanizing ourselves. Not smart.

A privilege to testify on CCP political warfare against Taiwan and the U.S. to the Congressional-Executive Commission on China this past week. These are the conversations we should be having as a country. 1/5 excerpts:

Insights here for you in a talk with the President of the Nat'l Bureau of Asian Research. Cathy Johnston and I analyzed China for decades (before it was cool) and we served together as the senior-most intel leaders for the Indo-Pacific Cmd from 2019-2022. https://t.co/WNzh3OYiYm
