First, I'm going to apologize to Liisa publicly because I didn't have all the conviction I should have. Liisa was in a private game I was running and I knew about this back then. I've seen the receipts, as it were. But at the time, Satine had never been anything but nice to me...
This is a story about retaliation, & repeating patterns of behavior.
Patterns of behavior that parallel, yet pre-date Jamison.
I hope it helps others avoid this kind of creative predation.

Having to apply to 100s of jobs sucks, it is monotonous & stressful. Every once in a while, there's a company I apply to that Id be chuffed if I got a response. There has to be a name for that feeling; its like the dreams associated with a lotto ticket, knowing you'll lose.

2 wks ago, I told my mom I detransitioned.
The day before she wanted to confront me about my ASD diagnosis. In that 15 minute call, she 'deadnamed' me 4x then said she wanted to talk the next day. FWIW, I would always be anxious if I had to call/talk to them. 🧵

Things came to a head when the promo image went up and she expressed her feeling of betrayal. So I pulled out last minute, which I didn't think was professional. I thought I owed Satine an apology. And so, because of that, Liisa and I fell out, which sucked.

I am still amazed/disappointed at how so many APs still using static overlays and other 'features' that were popular in streams 4 years ago. You might not be a CR or Dimension 20, but even video conference style play can be so much better.

D&D Beyond will be the largest unified data set for analysis on habits, popularity, rules updates, playtesting, etc to drive game development that will probably be worth more money than the income from the digital books.
Wizards of the Coast is really utilizing D&D Beyond now that it’s an official part of the company. Between the Monstrous Compendium, Vecna Dossier and now a pretty beefy preview of Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel, they definitely are pushing people to use that site.

Pre-recorded > Live for most people unless you are interacting directly with the chat in the game (ie charity). It allows flexibility in scheduling, editing if you need it, better safety tool access, freedom to not feel 'stupid', access to more video production tools.

I don't think this should be counted among the voices of the victims. It's meant to support them and show the rest of you how easy it can be justify hurtful inaction because of charisma, perceived clout, and being unaware of a bigger pattern of behavior.

This. Also, I experience cognitive dissonance seeing streamers make so much money for charity (a good thing!) but having to beg for money for basic bills.
When live streaming platforms ask creators to stream 20-40 hours a week to “make it,” and 99.9% (fact!) of streamers don’t earn minimum wage from streaming, there’s a fundamental flaw in that system.
Also, the 20-40 stream hours is on screen time—it doesn’t account for prep.

Captions. This is going to rile some folks up. Live captioning is shit. I challenge you to follow along with a stream with the audio off. People double speak and piece their sentences together as they go, making it less effective. Games use vocabulary and words not in the system

Had this happen at my last place. Landlords were getting a divorce/planned to sell, but encouraging us to do improvements. All the potted landscaping, big rocks, etc were removed. Did leave a few things. Made friends with new owners and helped them sue about undisclosed things.

News channels perfected the art of the talking head in a box. They understand that when speaking, you want to see the person, not the Overlay. They use crawls and lower thirds to keep the information and such in specific places. They use ratios for the people w/ minimal fluff.

Twitch may be better for community. YouTube may be better for reach on the long tail and discoverability. These factors can play into the value to sponsors. If you aren't a Partner, consider streaming to both.

Her 'support' included going to a meeting 10 years ago 2x for parents after shaming me. Out of it, she was told that our physical distance would make it harder to get used to my name/life. After the 2nd meeting, she quit the support group because she had her excuse.

I was put in for the ASD evaluation because of the things I was saying to my current therapist and the difficulties I had had with transition. There was no doubt that I was trans, I just can't do it. I felt like a fraud. And it is sad and I still grieve.

Where appropriate, include things to encourage participation or discovery OUTSIDE of the stream. For Mage, I had changing Tarot cards in the title that had clues. I did bar codes and a fake website with clues. It gets people engaged in new ways.

One of the things people really liked about the Mage game was the additional text at the top. This would be hard live, but possible with a producer. OBS has a built in tool to do crawls by scrolling a text file.

If you pre-record, spend the time to caption correctly. Adobe Sensei is a great start in Premiere, but will require hand editing for the same reason. There are also other services involved.
