I wish I could say I’m shocked. But what else should we expect from a country whose history of antisemitism, pogroms, and ritual blaming of Jews goes back centuries?

In 🇷🇺 Makhachkala, locals storm the airport after a plane from Tel-Aviv arrives. They check passports, looking for Israelis. The police don’t interfere. #Israel #IsraelPalestine

@MikeRStephens No way a European taking the moral high ground on antisemitism. What a lack of historical education does to someone

@pol__ben I guess we could discuss the six fold growth of the British Jewish community in the late 19th century mostly as a direct consequence of Russian pogroms. But sure…feel free to educate me on European and particularly British Jewish history.

@MikeRStephens I would be careful with your assessments. Small spark can start fire in London as well, in case you have not been and have not seen all these people this week marching across London

@Retina2022 I’ve been to observe the marches. They are nothing even remotely close to this.

Insane footage on Russian social media from Makhachkala in the North Caucasus region, where there have been several anti-Semitic protests this weekend. A crowd of people, some with Palestinian flags, broke into the airport in search of passengers on a flight from Tel Aviv.
