Awesome. His Eagles teammate, rookie Cooper DeJean, ran 10.71, 21.92 and jumped 24-2 at OABCIG HS in Iowa.
🦅 Before he was headed to his first Super Bowl, Saquon Barkley was a track and field standout at Whitehall HS in Pennsylvania. He only competed in Track and Field during his senior year. Despite that, he ran a 10.90 100m, long jumped 22-2.5 and threw a shot put 46-2.5. 📊

If not for COVID, this would have been my 50th year of attending the state T&F Champs. This meet never disappoints. I thank Coach Purdy everyday, for instilling in me, a great love for this great sport. Congratulations to all who qualified this year! It was an amazing weekend!.

What a day. What a week. What a meet. T&F athletes are so resilient. All they want is a chance. Today was unbelievable. A 3 hour delay and they literally came back better than ever. I love this sport and I love the @DrakeRelays.

The @DrakeRelays for 2020 have been postponed with hopes of rescheduling. As bad as it hurts it’s the right thing to do. Postpone sounds a helluva lot bet better than cancel! Let’s do what we are supposed to be doing, flatten the curve & make it happen!.

It is a great week for Track and Field because it is Drake Relays week, but a very sad day for our sport as I just learned that legendary Hall of Fame City High Coach John Raffensperger passed away in the night after a long and courageous fight with cancer.

I’ve been home for 3 straight outstanding Iowa HS meets with a 4th coming next week. Please take my word for it, this ‘22 season is special. Kids are hungry. The performances prove it. Bad weather has not slowed them down. @DrakeRelays & @IGHSAU & @IHSAA state will be 🔥💥🔥💥.

After the very sad news our track world encountered Monday, I just received a great message from @iatfcc Hall of Fame Iowa City City High Coach John Raffensperger. Raff has had 2 consecutive clean CT scans and has been declared cancer FREE! Way to battle Raff! God is good.

Yes I’m I’m biased but in spite of COVID-19, the love for T&F in Iowa is strong! Coaches are sharing with one another. Athletes are working hard hoping for one chance to run, jump or throw better than ever before. If the 2020 season doesn’t happen, it’s not for lack of effort❤️.

Iowa T&F fans and media. The 1600 and the Mile are not the same. The Mile is 9.3m longer. I am one of Quintin Nauman’s biggest fans. He is the first active Iowa prep to break 4:00 for 1600m. His sub 4:00 Mile is coming very soon. Believe me.

State meet records, as we knew them were broken 40 different times this past weekend with the final total of new meet records being 26. The 4A Boys 4x8 & SMR had 2 teams break what was the ATB! No 1A Boys 4x1 had ever gone sub 43 & that was accomplished 5X with both Lisbon and.

After 2 great days of State XC in Ft. Dodge I am trying to process all that happened. All 8 races were awesome, both individually & team wise. Some results were expected, some were surprising and all were top shelf. XC is alive & well in Iowa. Thank you!!.

In the past 2 years we have: gifted over 200 pairs of shoes for Iowa youth in need, awarded nine $500 scholarships, gifted fifty $50 grocery certificates to families in need because of the pandemic, paid camp fees for 7 kids in need, helped put on 2 summer T&F meets. We ❤️ kids.
