Idk if anyone cares anymore but I’m gonna be taking an even bigger step back from esports. I want nothing more than to succeed but I just can’t do it right now. Don’t see myself ever getting over this funk but if I can I’ll be back. Good luck to those of you still grinding ✌️

Twitch is a mistake man. Only matter of time before someone gets hurt or dies from some crap like this.

While I don’t always have the most positive things to say about OW and I literally have not touched or watched the game in years, I’m sad that it’s going to be gone. The game completely changed my life and gave me some memories and experiences I will never forget.

What’s worse: Missing out on franchising because your org owner posted the dumbest shit you’ve ever seen AND doubled down on it OR Alicus telling NA he owns all 8 contenders teams season 1

The upside that I hope for is that future generations will get to have a REAL career with real salaries and real growth and stability. Instead of a few years of the most intense roller coaster you’ve ever been on which leaves most who try it worse off than they were before

As with almost anything, being an early adopter (ie. being a pro in the past few years or the upcoming decade or two) is pretty terrible and there will be a ton of awful stuff going on across the board

On the other hand what I want more than anything is for esports to be a safe and secure career path for those who choose to put their all into it. I think the “regulation” and relative stability of franchising is a pretty good way to get there.

Another one of esports biggest strengths is that truly anyone can “make it”. I think when only 10-20 people per role get to be pro you miss out on a lot of the Monsoons, Doublelifts etc. who otherwise would be making waves in an open circuit.

Thinking of all fighting games, StarCraft, CS, melee, Dota they all have these amazing stories in common. I think with franchising all storylines feel watered down and/or manufactured for the broadcast or in ways to make it easier for a first time viewer to digest.

Double Edged sword. As someone who has been personally screwed by franchising I want to say it’s horrible. I think if you look at the esports that have lasted the longest, the best parts are the story lines. Whether that be overall long term story or from event to event

Super People is sick… but I swear I randomly get lobbies that are actually just all bots? Makes it very confusing

Fighting games are sick. If only I wasn’t ass and if only more of those games had normal, playable online modes

And I haven’t just been glorifying that time period in my head for all these years when it was just the same shit.
