Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel joined a coalition of 22 states in suing the Trump Administration over its unconstitutional and unlawful decision to freeze funding for six longstanding programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

UIA’s robust anti-fraud practices, including staff reviews of all newly registered businesses, identify fake employers and fake claims. Our investments in people, processes, and technology are paying off. Criminals beware: You won’t get away with stealing in Michigan.

We caught the thieves red-handed and they are now in the hands of law enforcement. The scheme repeats itself hundreds of times each year and never works. We strive to stop every scheme and block all fraud.

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency stopped another round of bad actors. In the past two weeks, we caught more than 40 fake companies registering with UIA in schemes to “lay off” ghost employees and used stolen IDs to file for unemployment benefits.
