Jim was the award-winning author of nine books, most recently Young Claus, and a successful playwright and screenwriter. In addition to his tremendous work as a writer, Jim will be remembered as the heart and soul of The Michener Center for Writers where, until retiring in 2017.

The Michener Center for Writers is heartbroken to share the news that Jim Magnuson has passed away after a long and courageous battle with ALS. He was 84. We are in the very early stages of planning a memorial for Jim, an event that will be held in Austin later this year.
