Done with CCU for intern year ! In august, I ain’t know what an A-line was. Fast forward to today, where I was literally managing the ccu while my attending and senior saw a few consults. Mannnn there is beauty in growth.

I stopped my conversation to look this individual in the eye and say “no I’m the doctor” and continued talking .Y’all my badge clip says “I am a doctor” . My jacket says “M. Adibe, MD internal medicine” …. LOL like what !??

It really is crazy how surprised staff/ people at the hospital get when they see a woman physician let alone a black woman. I had an individual walk into my conversation and point and say “who is she? The student?”

I preach the importance of life outside of being a doctor a lot. Love your career but love your life outside medicine as well. Being fulfilled outside of the hospital makes for a more empathetic and compassionate physician inside those walls! #NationalDoctorsDay
