Can filing a #patent application too early leave it destined for the “digital scrap heap”? In our latest article, @akorenberg, @MichaelNewtonIP and Beth Ormrod discuss problems that can arise when patent applications are filed prematurely: https://t.co/N0qICJLkSf

[5/4] like this. Thanks @BBCBreakfast
’There isn’t the workforce to see everybody face-to-face’ GP, Dr Rosemary Leonard shares her thoughts on #BBCBreakfast as GPs in England are to be offered an extra £250m to see more patients in person this winter. https://t.co/WFq0ypATn0

[4/4] No criticism of people who want a #face2face GP appointment. Sometimes that's needed. Health is important. We've had a hard time recently. But maybe with face2face at 75% of pre-pandemic levels this is not the national crisis the government and media seem to suggest.

[3/4] I suspect government could better "rescue" GP services by more listening to GPs and more public affirmation of a profession under pressure. I get why the @TheBMA think GPs will be "dismayed" by the announcement of a £250m "rescue"...

[2/4] This graph in the above article shows #face2face now above 15m, approaching pre-pandemic average of roughly 20m. But also shows telephone above 10m. Total appointments are around (or even a bit above) pre-pandemic levels. It's different. *But why is it worse?*

[1/4] Dismayed by media and government obsession with #GPs #face2face appointments. I know health is an emotive issue. But I think this coverage will make things worse. @BBCNews can we have more positive coverage please?

*BREAKING* Enlarged Board of Appeal publishes order in G1/21: hearing appeals by videoconference without the consent of parties is compatible with the EPC during the pandemic. EPO practice for opposition oral proceedings by VICO remains unaffected. https://t.co/D6jbQ66M21

Dan here from Kilburn & Strode’s chemistry team 👋 I'm watching the @EPOorg hearing on G1/21 and will be keeping you up-to-date on what's happening. Today’s question: can hearings be held by videoconference even if one of the parties does not consent?

Exciting patent thing 2: UK govt taking educated position on patent waivers for vaccines: patents aren’t the problem, they can be part of the solution:
👇Vaccine patent waiver THREAD 👇 Liz Truss, International Trade Secretary, told the International Trade Committee yesterday that the key to the vaccine rollout is voluntary licensing.

I love this story. Combines two of my favourite things: Inventions and bike riding. Link below to what looks to be one of the early US patents on what became “Strava Segments” ⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://t.co/6hvzpJW2eJ

Cyclists were bragging about their times up iconic climbs long before Strava came around, but have you ever wondered where the idea for segments first came from? Find out:
