The theme of Final Fantasy 4 is redemption and forgiveness. Golbez, Rydia, Cecil, and Kain all touch that in different ways. That’s why it’s still my favorite in the series.

Sephiroth wasn’t popular because he had rock star hair, he was popular because his transformation from an ordinary, empathic military leader into a psychopath was compelling and haunting. He had a little Norman Bates in him too (cue the psycho music battle intro).
