Only place I might do any good in a sale barn this week is working out back running a gate. If the calf market is anything like the cow market, these things are going to be absolutely insane today. Wish I was shipping in the country this week and buying in the barn last week🥴

I know you can’t hold everyone’s hand and tell them how to do their business but as a Salebarn owner who works for their customer, I think you’d be obligated to explain to your consignor that selling a calf weaned just 30 days can be absolutely detrimental to their bottom line🤷🏻♂️

What a CATTLE SHOW this week shipping The Rocking J yearlings. Not too many guys I know that start with a 4wt hfr & get to ship a 985# heifer off the grass & plenty of gas left in the tank! This family buys great cattle and they grow them right! Guaranteed Good Ones! @Mjacobs_7

Nothing like a beautiful morning of shipping yearlings to open your options portfolio and the entire thing is down 20%. Usually I’m not that careless about my exposure but things been good enough lately caught me not giving a shit.

It impresses me how hard it is to find a hotel in Western North Dakota that is known for having clean rooms/bedding. Nothing worse than paying for a room & finding out the maids never changed the bedding from the night(s) before I try not to stay at these places but it happens

Is there anyone out there who wants to devote 50% of their life to buying cattle cause I’m just about to get in the thick of country delivery & sale barn season & I would LOVE to train & hire someone that wants to learn how to do it. Key word “WANTS” it, not just one day of it.

Worked on shipping a jag of the BEAUTIFUL Rocking J Yearlings this morning & spent the afternoon trailing the 2nd 1/2 of ‘em home. U basically trail them right into US customs & Idfk why I didn’t video the Canadian trying to get home in his Chrysler working the drag🤣@Mjacobs_7

The news asked to interview me about the cattle pot tipping over & I wouldn’t have done it had I not seen all the negative comments on FB about the well-being of the cattle. Figured I could shed some positivity on how well it was cleaned up & how quick they were on feed & water

Gotta love small town rumors🤣Cattle pot tips over in town and I just happened to be one of the first guys who pull up to help, checked my phone and I got three messages asking if I’m okay after tipping a pot over. I’m not even a trucker, or the owner and I’m getting blamed🤣

Bought two loads of absolute front-end 6wt steers today that avg $2450/hd, & passed another load of 6wt Red steers at $2360/hd which I painfully regret, should’ve tried harder. I’m not going to buy them any better than that the rest of the fall, am I? Glad I stayed in the hills

Bought some 0DTE $UNH $365 call at the open. Walked into the gas station shortly after to get a cup of coffee and the guy in font of me in line had a UNH shirt on. I thought “There’s some confirmation” Calls up 200% so far.

If you found screwworm at your ranch/facilities that is near the border and your nation’s cattle market & food security hinged on you reporting that NWS case, would you report it? I feel like if they did find it, they’re keeping their mouth shut unless they absolutely can’t.
