I often lose track of what’s normal vs. exceptional within certain baseball statistics. Below is a cheat sheet showing how various hitting stats are distributed. Vertical dashed lines represent the median for each stat.

Some top pitching prospects with overall future values and pitch grades from FanGraphs (November data). Angels don't have a stellar system overall but they have a few good arms.

Highest Exit Velocity: Oneil Cruz hits a Cruz missile 121.5 mph down the line off a 100mph Doval cutter for the game-tying RBI. Interestingly, a slower double might have allowed Bryan Reynolds to score from first to win the game. (Pirates walked it off in the tenth).

And here are the whiff leaders for secondaries. Josh Hader's slider is the most consistent bat-misser in MLB with a whiff% greater than 60%.

Top 10 whiff rates by pitch type throughout 2024, starting with fastballs (secondaries coming up next). Reed Garrett is the only pitcher to break the top 10 for three different pitches: sinker, cutter, and splitfinger. @jaseidler move him to the rotation?

September MiLB performances from notable Top 100 prospects (sorted by # of ABs). A lot of strong finishes with the exception of Basallo. Wetherholt with a 1.247 OPS in his final 28 ABs.

Performance of notable Mets hitting prospects in September. Jett Williams finished strong in AAA after a slow start rehabbing in AA. Luisangel Acuña had one of the worst months in the entire system and promptly caught fire after a call-up to replace Francisco Lindor.

Top 15 Pitchers by Stuff+, w/ Stuff+ by individual pitch. Calvin Faucher took over as the Marlins' closer after the Tanner Scott trade. His low-90's cutter (primary offering at 38%) grades higher than Emmanuel Clase's. Note Nick Pivetta is the only SP on this list.

Note that FG does not have grades for Misiorowski’s curveball and changeup, which are listed as 60 and 40 on Savant, respectively.
