I don’t buy that ‘The Batman’ takes itself too seriously at all, it’s an aggressively sincere film that starts and ends with “something in the way” by Nirvana and has a scene where Colin Farrell Penguin says “no habla español, fellas” has more in common with Burton than Snyder
A movie like Taxi Driver should never not be on a steaming service, what kind of world are we living in where classic movies are just homeless like that?
@Q_Review
I remember when this guy wrote a song about how school is pointless or whatever and it sounded like it was written by someone who had never even finished high school. And just decided then and there that anything he said was of no value.
“Some people never gave it a shot after finishing Breaking Bad, assuming it was a silly prequel about the goofy side character of the show, but it’s actually a quiet pensive and introspective series about a broken man trying to reinvent himself over and over again”
Still annoys me that people are criticizing the political motivations of the Batman’s Riddler when his politics are clearly meant to be incoherent angry pettiness of a man who never grew up because the world abandoned him. He’s a fanboy serial killer terrorist, not a socialist.
it’s funny she’s called Joan of Arc because there’s no place in France called Arc, her surname was probably just “Darc” which was turned into d’arc which translates to “of Arc”
@Thatoneguy64
Nazis love to co-opt movies that *explicitly* condemn them so are we really going to sweat when a couple white Nats are like “oh damn, Viking guy is just like me”? Seems kind of silly.
sorry to post about an animated kids movie but I was watching the Incredibles with some students last week while substituting and idk this shot is just mesmerizing, can’t stop thinking about it
find this incredibly reductive and stupid, popular kids can be incredibly cruel, nerds can be misogynistic, outcasts can have malevolent intent, there is no one group that is secretly out to hurt everyone else. This is not the fucking snake students in Harry Potter.
One shocker plot twist I encountered in real life was discovering, around age 14, that the popular kids were actually the nice ones, while there were some truly malevolent characters hiding among the nerds & outcasts.
Having just watched the three Raimi spidey movies in the past 2 days, I have to say, I really do not understand the hate Mary Jane gets in these. Almost all of her actions and feelings are completely justified imo.
@bf_crane
I’ve been thinking about this since I saw the first movie, like who are these random guys who think they can take out this man who just killed like 1000 guys ?
@wixiwerehere
It’s the James Marsden problem. Too handsome, too versatile, too funny, too cool. Too everything. They can do everything and so no one does ends up doing anything with em
@TruthsandLies14
There’s has to be a more meaningful way to criticize a movie than to say the director was given “too much control” maybe actually describe what is bad about it?
