To bring the change we want— we must model that behavior. Educators have the opportunity to influence many. Make it positive!!

Students are fine speaking when they can use words they know. It's when they run into a word they don't know that they panic. By using uncommon words for circumlocution games we can help them realize how much they can say, even with a limited vocabulary! #langchat #spanishclass

Our job is to teach the students we have. Not the ones we would like to have. Not the ones we used to have. Those we have right now. All of them. #Education #Teachers

Spanish and Italian AP exams will be geared towards having your students produce authentic speaking. Let’s start engaging them into these types of tasks now- so that they will be more successful next year. #Authenticity

My students aren’t just listening during explicit instruction—they’re always thinking. How do I know this? I know because they remember, understand, and connect ideas. If they weren’t thinking, none of it would stick. Strong explicit teaching is intentionally engineered thinking.

Poor lessons don’t fall apart all at once. They slowly leak attention. Sloppy transitions, long explanations, and idle time drain momentum gradually. Brisk pacing seals the leaks. Here’s how I keep attention high and the lesson brisk with cycles of Read–Write–Discuss–Revise. 👇🔗

A new, large-scale study now offers stronger evidence and an important insight: speaking one extra language appears helpful, but speaking several seems even better.
