Through it all, Alhamdulillah Robbil Alaameen. We welcomed the 4th Inaugural Poet of @OAUniversity on August 7, 2025. Alhamdulillah. Nothing more, nothing less.

Before I left the masjid late in the evening, those six words were retracted, as though they were never spoken. The platform has never been about me, will never be. Nothing has changed, really, except that I am more certain that I still don't know what this legacy could become.

Allah has never placed the weight of this dream in my hands, and on Wednesday, I got to see how heavy it could be. I literally ‘ran’ to Him, to do one of the things He taught us to do - Pray.

On Wednesday, I heard six Yoruba words that took me back to the genesis of Inaugural Poetry on OAU campus. I took those six words to the place of prayer amidst tears, fear, and reflection, with Imaan.

Camp gave me a different title and it was beautiful and what it taught me would be: ‘No skill is ever wasted.’ Even if it is not monetised or used daily, whatever you learn and know can never be taken away from you.

At NYSC camp, I chose to work behind the scenes as part of the Content Creation team. I decided to take a back seat, literally and creatively, documenting @insidenysclagos activities through the lens of a camera.

Some of these skills saved the day while I was in school. Now, I don’t even earn from most of them anymore. But if there’s one thing these skills did for me, they shaped the path I’m currently on. They positioned me for the roles I take on now, including what I do currently.

Back in school, I picked up quite a number of skills - Copywriting & Advertising, Email Marketing, Graphic Design, Blog/Article Writing, UI/UX Writing, Project Management, Video Editing, SEO Analytics, e-Commerce - a bit of everything here and there.

“Memunat, you design too?” This was from one of my teammates in the OBS unit. He saw me working on a design and had to ask, obviously surprised. I nodded and smiled.
