There are so many people who speak about #prison despite never being locked into a cell. Even prison staff have no idea what it feels like to hear that cell door lock every night. If you want to know what prison life is like, speak to someone just released today.

It's pretty clear that these new facial recognition systems will be a way for police to harass #prison leavers and anyone with a criminal record. We'll never be allowed to move on from our past offences. https://t.co/OBj8RihNDD

The Home Office hopes a new public consultation will lead to new laws expanding the use of the technology by more police forces.

It's not just working class council estate dwellers who tamper with ankle tags after leaving #prison.

Wow, this Reform UK councillor says children in care are 'evil'. It's dickhead politicians like this that create the pathways to #prison for care leavers. https://t.co/e9W8TlAkCn

This article and life story almost perfectly encapsulates the road to #prison and the struggles of so many inmates I got to know there. Really worth the time to read. https://t.co/dlaAQZhloT

This perfectly explains how people in #prison can essentially 'give up' via the phenomena of learned helplessness. When you've been told you're a failure you're entire life, you start to believe it. And being around successful people makes it worse.

It's amazing how the tough-guy facade drops when a little kindness is shown. This reminds me so much of how difficult #prison attitudes can be overcome with just a bit of compassion in a human way.

The survivors of the grooming gang inquiry stepping away from the process is something #prison leaver 'lived experience' people should learn how to do. Too many prison leavers suck up to whatever chair is offered and just nod in agreement at whatever is said.

Why are #prison guards fixated on tasers, pepper-spray, batons, flash-bangs and other tools of violence when we have other more effective and non-lethal forms of restraints? Perhaps HMP guards simply enjoy beating up vulnerable prisoners?
