The confederate flag is offensive bcs:.1. It is a defense of slavery. 2. rebellion against the United States. 3. white supremacy (from its founding context). Has been used by segregationists & KKK.
@InternetH0F To be honest, she was at least respectful about it, not like alot of people, I'll tell you that. But for me the Confederate flag isn't about slavery or the civil war even. It's about my stake in the south, my heritage of birth, not by blood since both of my parents are yanks.

@Lord_Im_Thine The Liturgy of hours is the best way for you to stay connected to your own liturgical tradition. As there's a certain style to those prayers. And you would eventually have a preference for that type of Liturgy (best way to bring up a kid in a particular rite). Atleast I guess. .

@Lord_Im_Thine plus it works well as we def pray the Trisagion & Resurrection Hymn at home. Which is also in the Qurbana as well. So it's like having a mini-version of the Liturgy at home.

I became a prayer rule guy now bcs of that. I just make my own versions of the ramsha/breviary now. Currently just made a 5 -6 min version (for my 4 yr old son as well). As he grows up might make it 10 min later on. And then the whole thing.

🤪Wow interesting perspective. The Litany of Loreto is like the 2nd half of the rosary for many Malayali ethnic Catholics lol. It's like for them the rosary isn't complete without the Litany.
@BackwardsFeet I was fairly confident it wasn't the Rosary (felt too easy), and I knew it wasn't the Mass, because family prayer can't reach the Mass (that's different from communal prayer or the prayers of the priest). I figured the Litany of Loretto was too obscure (because I've never heard.

Oh ya it's so annoying really (praying as a group). Especially when my mother leads. After a while we are on "auto-pilot" and just try to finish the decades asap.
Perhaps a hot take: group recitation of the rosary is often not conducive to prayer and meditation on the mysteries, and it is better done as an individual devotion.
