I’m sorry but I can’t get on board with that idea. Winning sides stay on top because they are used to winning, and you win by playing the best people you have. Improve the pathway to Test cricket, don’t penalise the people who are excelling at it now.
STUART BROAD: I'm waking up more confused angrier each day... I could take being dropped if my standards slipped but I feel gutted that all I've had is a five-minute phone call and nothing else |

At some point you have to let the next generation through. You also have to give them a chance with the new ball and there's no way they get the new ball with Broad and Anderson in the team.

The whole county structure needs looking and I understand the argument that this decision should have been left until the new full time director and coach were in place but we are entering a rebuilding stage and you can't rebuild on the back of 39 and 35 year olds.

There’s also the fact that minus Broad and Anderson, England aren’t taking their strongest team to the Caribbean, which is something of an insult to the West Indian Cricket Board. Considering it was the WI who agreed to tour here during the uncertainty of Covid in 2020.

I think I agree. But airing his grievances in a newspaper is not doing himself any favours. And it is true that no player (however good) is bigger than the team. Think he might have just made it a bigger issue to select him again now.

Absolutely. Also, I really don’t like the automatic link between Jimmy and Stuart; Jimmy is four years older!
I think the respectful thing to do would be take both on the tour but say beforehand only one of you will play each test, we need you there to teach the young lads

Ageism nonsense isn't it. Seems to happen in all sports. This bizarre attitude that when people get to their mid 30's they must stop because they can't excel. With sports science, sports people could if they wanted to go on much longer at the highest level.
