If you were one of the no shows yesterday, if it was my venue I'd bar you for life unless you got in contact to explain.
People who do the whole 'book loads of places and only turn up to one' deserve life-long trouser weasels.
@MelissaCole
It happened at heaps of places when Melbourne bars/pubs opened in October after months of lockdown. Heaps of places just decided to implement a minimum spend that would be deducted if you were a no-show and refunded when you turned up.
@MatthewBeggs
I wouldn’t do anything else personally, if we are back in the position to take bookings for
@MatchboxSe1
in future, that’s what we’ll be doing.
@MelissaCole
I once read that some people book various places for the same date and time so they can basically decide at the last minute where they fancy eating/drinking 🤬
@MelissaCole
Easy solution
@MelissaCole
... £50 deposit for a table. Refunded on the day as bar tab and/or refunded when you show up. Boom! What Novus use to do and works a treat
@MelissaCole
Totally. Such selfish and appalling behaviour. After all that hospitality have and are still going through.
May karma bite them big style!
@MelissaCole
I’ve seen people offer to volunteer their services to specifically call the no shows back to throw the guilts on them. Shame that a) that’d breach gdpr and b) the assholes likely just don’t care...
@MelissaCole
Grrrrrr!! Design my night has a great feature that tells you if a customer is booking multiple venues, so we can reject the booking, no thanks to people like that!
@MelissaCole
We take a deposit for bookings at our place for exactly this reason. They can have it refunded up to 24 hours beforehand if they choose to go elsewhere.
@MelissaCole
Deposits needed. I’ve booked one place for my birthday (yes I found somewhere) and wouldn’t be at all offended or bothered if they’d taken a deposit.
@MelissaCole
Have had to pay deposits round here for places I’ve booked. Have never no showed, but still get called to check attendance anytime I book anything - no shows mist be rife!
