Here we suggest HIV Env glycoproteins form clusters in the membrane of mature viruses, and SER5 (not SER2) disrupts Env clusters. Also, low colocalization of Env and SER5 observed in our experiments suggests an indirect mechanism of SER5-mediated inhibition of HIV fusion.
