#OnThisDay in 1997 Melinda Gainsford ran in Stuttgart, winning the 200m & setting a new 🇦🇺record of 22.23 slicing 0.02 from Catherine Freeman's mark set at the 1994 Commonwealth Games. This made Mel the 1st 🇦🇺woman to hold both 100/200 (auto) records since Raelene Boyle.
