Great example for showcasing why concrete and representational experiences must precede the mimicking of abstract procedures for computation.
It is not easy to explain to 2nd or 3rd grade students how the 1s are different in each example. Teaching elementary mathematics requires far more skill than most folks expect. #iTeachMath

This fall, the ODU MathFest hosted three in-school MathFests throughout Hampton Roads! Teachers received training, professional development hours, and materials for their classrooms. All students interacted with a diverse set of activities and received giveaways at each event.

Happy National Field Hockey Day! My time on the field had a profound impact on who I am as a person and teacher. Field Hockey taught me resilience, patience, team work, sacrifice, progress over perfection and to pursue lofty goals…just to name a few. Thanks, field hockey. 😊
