@CBKReport
He's lost so many players in the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin has so much high school talent like Marcus Domask and Milan Momcilovic. He's also lost Tyrese Hunter, Patrick Baldwin, and Brandin Podziemski. In-state recruiting has gotten worse
@GoodmanHoops
Now we need to work on the free transfer rule and it ruining the popularity of college basketball. Lack of player familiarity and attachment for fans
For all the crap Ed Cooley received this past season, he’s recruited extremely well for the 2024-2025 season.
Malik Mack - transfer from Harvard
Micah Peavy - transfer from TCU
Thomas Sorber - 4⭐️ C
Kayvaun Mulready - 4⭐️ SG
Both of these 4 star players are consensus top 100
Say what you want about NIL, but it is one of the main reasons Hunter Sallis is coming back to Wake Forest. This is huge for Steve Forbes since the Deacs haven't had much luck in returning borderline NBA guys in recent years.
Jake LaRavia - left for NBA Draft
Bobi Klintman -
@JonRothstein
Seems like the NCAA needs to step in and ensure conference tournaments are all at neutral site arenas. I know MSG is historic, but this is tough for St John's
TreVon Spillers - App State:
The App State transfer has officially committed to Wake which is awesome news for Wake fans. He offers much needed depth at the forward spot. There are four aspects to his game that fill immediate gaps in Wake's team from this past year.
1.) Spatial
@jeffborzello
Such a misleading tweet. There are two ways to defend the 3 point line. Minimizing attempts and percentage. Wisconsin runs people off the 3 point line. So you should look at the “number of 3 pointers attempted against” rather than the % Jeff
@GoodmanHoops
The SEC plays an insanely erratic play style and relies on athleticism. Kills them when teams don’t turn the ball over and want to play half court games
I’ve seen so many accounts saying
@WakeMBB
will hopefully wind up with 2 Q1 wins with Florida and UVA by the end of the year and that will make their tournament resumé so much better. While it will and is still in the realm of possibility despite the Pitt loss, banking on the
Respect to Yaxel for this move. It is rare to see an athlete that averages a double-double in a mid-major conference stay at the university that helped him get to the top of his game. Big get for
@UAB_MBB
for the 2024-2025 season
@CBKReport
I don’t think anyone’s had problems with Penny’s ability to recruit, it’s always been getting the pieces to fit together. I’m not sure if Tyrese Hunter is the answer to that problem
@CBKReport
I just don’t know how you can call Miami a loser. They pick up Blackmon, Johnson, and Kidd while bringing back Cleveland and a HEALTHY Nijel Pack. They lost a few guys but they needed change after last year
@JonRothstein
Brock Cunningham runs and plays like a 30 year old corporate finance guy that goes to the YMCA and plays every pickup game like it is the Natty.
It seemed like Nebraska was a lock for William Kyle, given that he was from Nebraska and the visit went well. However, this would be a HUGE steal for Wake Forest. He is a pure rim protector and rim runner. With Andrew Carr and Efton Reid’s foul trouble concerns, a pure athlete
@MarchMadnessMBB
1.) Florida not included is insane.
2.) Wisconsin is too high. Personally, they'd be 25 or NR
3.) Indiana State finally getting love is nice.
4.) Not much separating 11-18 IMO
5.) FAU is clinging on to life right now
Kanaan Carlyle - Stanford
The consensus on all transfer sites is that Carlyle is a top 10 transfer. He was a freshman this past year, so his efficiency numbers will only get better. His ability to change speeds, read the floor, and score from deep is what stands out to me.
@GoodmanHoops
@TheFieldOf68
I can’t stop thinking about his potential return to Kentucky as the Arkansas coach if this happens. Leaving one of the best programs in college ball to go to a team within the same conference would be wild
Hunter Sallis will go through the feedback process from NBA scouts as he declares for the NBA Draft.
Most mock drafts have him going in the 2nd round as of right now. I do think this is the floor for his draft sock. Scouts want to further examine his quickness and ability to
The WCC might have the strangest conference tournament bracket, but it is smart. It is smart because it emphasizes the regular season and prevents bad losses for the top seeds that keep their at large hopes alive (historically Gonzaga and St. Mary's)
@JonRothstein
This is the scary part of Wake Forest’s schedule coming up. Some bracket experts have Wake in the field with 0 Quad 1 wins because of efficiency metrics. If they can pull off a few of these games and the UVA win from earlier on in the season turns Q1. WATCH OUT
2024-2025 Mid-Major Transfers:
JP Pegues - Furman. JP is my favorite guard in the portal right now for 3 reasons. He is a proven clutch shot maker, under control in the pick and roll, and an elite 3 point shooter with deep range. He is also extremely good at snaking ball screens
Forbes should not be fired. However, this idea of “reload” and come back next year is not realistic in this day and age of college ball. I would love for Sallis to come back to Wake, but the reality is Wake’s lost a key piece that was not expected every year in Forbes tenure.
Because this is/going a popular question over the next probably month, no shot.
You’ll return the vast majority of this team next year. Shore up the holes (PG/backup wing/backup C) and push all the chips in
@CBKReport
Tennessee to Arkansas with Calipari. There really isn’t any school loyalty in today’s game anymore. At least go get your bag in another conference
Wake fans should definitely want Jelani. He’s a combo guard that excels in a lot of areas Wake struggled this past year. He has great positional size for a combo guard and was known as a pesky defender with quick feet in high school. He also has a silky smooth long range jumper
Iowa State transfer Jelani Hamilton tells me he’s heard from these schools since hitting the portal:
Wake Forest
Virginia Tech
New Mexico
Belmont
Appalachian State
Georgia State
Kennesaw State
Coastal Carolina
Duquesne
Georgia Southern
Tulane
Valparaiso
Furman
UT Arlington
I genuinely don’t know how fans of programs like Louisville, Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan, and Memphis function. The amount of rumors tossed around on a daily basis is insane
My official hand written bracket. If you take all one and two seeds you are boring
Elite 8:
UConn
Illinois
UNC
New Mexico
Texas A&M
Kentucky
McNeese St
Creighton
Natty Winner:
Illinois
The Mountain West vs ACC conversation needs to STOP. The Mountain West has a slight edge in terms of offensive rating, but defense has yet to be found in the Mountain West. New Mexico, Boise State, and SDSU carry the load on the defensive end, but from a total conference
@cheddaboy2345
It is also fun to see teams play on a neutral court before Selection Sunday hits. College basketball has the best postseason structure and product of any sport college or professional and it’s not close
Omaha Biliew - Iowa State
I’ve seen a lot of people on this app saying, “Look what Wake’s done with former 5 ⭐️ Hunter Sallis, why wouldn’t he come to Wake?”
It’s not an apples to apples comparison and frankly Wake needs a guy like TJ Power to accompany a transfer like Biliew.
Indiana Portal Update 🚨🚨
Myles Rice - committed
27.5% 3 PT
Kanaan Carlyle - expected
32.0% 3 PT
Oumar Ballo - expected
hasn't taken a 3 in his career
I'm not an expert, but I think Mike Woodson could use a 3 point shooter in the portal
There is no questioning Cam’s value on the defensive end of the court in tonight’s matchup. I think tonight I will be looking to see what his decision making on the offensive side of the ball is like in addition to the defensive end. He needs to pick his spots on when to attack
Cam Hildreth will be tasked with guarding a red hot Blake Hinson tonight
When these teams met on Jan 31 Hildreth shadowed Hinson - face guarding him to limit his touches
Did a pretty good job limiting attempts but Blake was still efficient (6-10 FGs and 2-4 3PTs)
Hinson is
Wake holds Virginia to 49, gets gifted with a historically bad 1-11 FT shooting performance from the Cavs and still loses by 2. Hildreth misses a Dirk Nowitzki fadeaway (over Ryan Dunn) at the buzzer...
L doesn't really effect tourney chances but a W obviously would've been
2024-2025 Mid-Major Transfers:
Darlinstone Dubar - Hofstra
He is one of the most underrated guards in the transfer portal. He's barely in the top 50 of 247s transfer rankings, but easily should be top 25. College coaches are recruiting him like a top 25 transfer.
He shot 53.9%
NBA Draft Deadline Decisions:
Mark Sears - back at Alabama
Alex Karaban - back at UConn
Hunter Sallis - back at Wake
Jarin Stevenson - back at Alabama
Caleb Love - back at Arizona
Chase Hunter - back at Clemson
Matthew Murrell - back at Ole Miss
Johnell Davis - going to Arkansas
Ty-Laur Johnson:
Louisville ➡️ Wake
This is my favorite commit from Wake's transfer portal class for a few different reasons. The current roster is built on forward depth. A pesky and quick guard like Johnson with the potential to create off the bounce is a needed addition. He
This is my first time watching LSU women's basketball and I've heard all about Angel Reese from social media. However, Flau'jae Johnson seems like the most talented LSU player. That spin to the lay in traffic was a TOUGH move
Big Ten & Mountain West:
There aren't two conferences in basketball that are under as much pressure to perform this week than the
@bigten
and
@MountainWest
.
Big Ten - two of the prime teams in
@MSU_Basketball
and
@BadgerMBB
have been STRUGGLING as of late. I think this game
@John_Fanta
KJ Jenkins led the way tonight, but Trazarien White has been Mr. Consistent for UNCW all year and he was EFFICIENT. Averages 20 pts and 7 rbs a game while shooting 39% from 3 pt range.
@TiptonEdits
@DanielPoneman
@On3sports
@TransferPortal_
Don’t think he’d go to these spots, but I think he fits a St. Mary’s, UVA, and Wisconsin play style. He’s an underrated cutter as a guard, but not the most athletic player. Think he could be a solid backup PG in the Power 5
@TiptonEdits
@On3sports
Need to see him at Pitt or South Carolina. He fits the BJ Mack role for USC and Pitt is a huge opportunity for him with the loss of Blake Hinson. Pitt also returns two extremely talented young guards if he went there
2024-2025 Mid-Major Transfers
Since there is a break in tournament action, I can now post transfer updates. I will be posting about my favorite transfers in the portal who you have never heard of, but will make a splash next year. Starting with Malik Dia.
Malik Dia - Belmont.
@GoodmanHoops
@TheFieldOf68
I feel like this was implied for Great after the Garrison signing. Money talks which BBN has, but the fit didn’t make sense anymore
@JoshCar69840713
@John_Fanta
Josh you might want to read the tweet again. The teams they played like to play slow. It doesn’t matchup well against fast paced teams. You proved my point
All of these college basketball insiders would rather break both of their legs than give each other credit on breaking news 😭😭
I’m talking about the 3 Js: Jon, Jeff, and Joe.
Just a friendly reminder that if the Clemson score stands, the ACC will be 8-1 in the NCAA Tournament. Not bad for the conference supposedly worse than the Mountain West, SEC, Big 12, Pac 12, Big Ten, and Big East
@JonRothstein
Huge news for Stanford, but also big news for the ACC in general. Cal, Stanford, and SMU were viewed as drags on the ACC, but they’ve done fantastic work so far in the offseason
Edey’s a load to handle inside on any given day, but I’m not sure how Tennessee can limit him if he’s getting away with push offs on offensive rebounds. 8 fouls drawn for Zach Edey today
Regardless of beating Louisville today, Kevin Keatts deserves to be fired this offseason.
Kevin Keatts Stats @ NC State:
1.) 0 NCAAT Wins
2.) 0 NBA players drafted
#NCState
The story for
@WakeMBB
today is the defensive focus on Markus Burton and Parker Friedrichsen’s timely defensive plays. Notre Dame really throws the kitchen sink at defenses with stagger actions and pick and rolls which demand sound defensive communication. Plays are designed to
Watching this ETSU vs Chattanooga game right now. Forbes is in attendance and is animated as can be. Standing right behind Coach Savage in the stands and he hasn’t lost his coaching hat. He’s pointing and coaching from the stands. PASSION
