It was a touching moment to be joined by past mayors of Memphis and Shelby County to honor Bill Morris who influenced so much of the community and work we are dedicated to. Again, my condolences to Bill Morris' family. He was a titan.

The @ShelbyCoTN employee of the 2nd quarter is often the first face you see when you arrive at our office. Brian Smith has supported the CAO's Office for nearly 10 years. Brian is a wealth of knowledge, friend to all, and go-to across every division. Congratulations, Brian.

This month, we marked another milestone in advancing transformative justice in Shelby County: the inauguration of our 1st transitional housing facility and our first tenants. This landmark achievement affirms my administration's belief in the value of second chances. #OurNextEra

As we enter into another conversation about jail investment, let’s hope we don’t forget about our schools. Our schools are far older and in greater need of investment. Look, if we invest in our schools, we might not even need a bigger jail.

Today is the day. Shelby County Government will dedicate our first transitional house. We currently have individuals going through the re-entry process there so they have a stable, supportive place to call home as they rebuild their lives. Join us for this new chapter.

Julian Bolton led boldly for decades. His unwavering integrity and compassionate leadership left an indelible mark on Shelby County Government and the hearts of those who knew him. I am forever grateful for the path he started and send my deepest condolences to his family.

We have named new leadership at the Crime Victims & Rape Crisis Center and charged them to expand our reach to ensure every survivor gets the care, dignity, and support they deserve. The number of residents using CVRCC is growing and we have leaders to steer it into the future.

Last fall, the Shelby County Division of Corrections pulled off a vision that was the first in our region. We had the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and Shell on Wheels behind the wall to perform for inmates and family, understanding the powers music has.

I'm happy to say a MOU regarding the transfer of operations of YJEC from the Sheriff's Office to my Administration has been signed by myself and Judge Sugarmon. The mission of this new chapter is simple, show up for these kids and give them a chance to rewrite their story.

The murals by @urbanartmemphis and other local artists can add vibrancy to any community. The Mayor’s Office Team helped clean up a mural in Westwood so more young artists can have space to make the neighborhood shine. We’re proud of our public art.
