yeah, no, that was good. definitely better than season 13, 12, and possibly 11 of the original show.

the animation looks less stilted than the previews implied, the voice acting is better than expected (kahn’s new VA struggles at first but is getting the swing by the end. neither johnny hardwick nor toby huss sound stellar but that’s ok, we can just pretend it’s the cigarettes).

mike judge obviously thinks it’s laughable how much people like reboots of shows, given that there’s three distinct gags about unnecessary television reboots. i was concerned about flanderization but the characters are certainly no worse than they were in season 13.

i was prepped for a decent amount of political loser shit, but there really only was 1 ep, which is honestly in line with the original show. every characterwriting decision made sense. they got the hits out of the way in the 1st ep and it picked up once they got to new material.
i'll have more in-depth thoughts tomorrow i think. there's some stuff to be said here, i think.

late in the season hank shows a bit of character development i’ve wanted to see since about 2009 and i’m fucking flattened. lying flat on the g-d damn floor right now.
i spent a couple days talking about how eager i was to be disappointed by the King of the Hill reboot and then it turned out to be 8 out of 10 pretty damn good episodes. color me more than a little stunned.

I feel like the screenshots of the "The Wizard of Oz at Sphere" do NOT do justice to how absolutely terrible it looks in motion. Watching how this is edited/moves to get to that Neil Breen-ass background is so much worse than whatever you're picturing in your head:
