A third horse is dead from injuries/illness since the Fresno Fair opened this year. Races need to be stopped until this is investigated and properly addressed. What’s happening is unacceptable and truly heartbreaking.

On the City Council, Nelson has championed an increase of affordable housing, worked to bring more good paying jobs to Fresno, and prioritized our public safety by hiring more officers & firefighters. I know Nelson will bring that same fight and passion with him to Sacramento.
The Central Valley is the breadbasket of the world. But for too many, the California dream is out of reach. I'm running for State Senate to invest in our working families, make housing more affordable, and protect our valley resources. We can do this — together.

It’s common sense- if we want to combat homelessness and fight poverty in our city we need to keep Fresnans housed and ensure they’re paid for the wages they’re owed. My budget amendments, if adopted, will be a huge step in that direction.

Wage theft is a crime against hard working Fresno employees. The well-being of our working-class families must continue to be a top priority for this city. I am proud to sponsor this bill that will allow our city attorney to begin prosecuting wage theft in the City of Fresno.
A new proposal at the Fresno City Council would let city attorneys prosecute wage theft cases. They could bring both criminal and civil charges against thieving bosses. Currently, California workers are losing hundreds of millions annually in stolen wages.
