We had a big day in the eLab yesterday! 4th graders designed scaled models of Conestoga and Prairie Schooner wagons. They tested them on a variety of different terrain as a part of their investigation into the impact of geography on the settlers’ journey West. @normalparkmm

Hey that’s me! I discovered STEM education at the end of my first year of teaching, just when I thought this career might not be for me…7 years later I’m ALL IN! I can truly attest to the impact of STEM education first hand.

I’m grateful to support educators like @Matty_Hardy1 in the 12 STEM and 1 STEAM designated schools in Hamilton County. It’s amazing to see what students can do with STEM learning experiences! I ❤️ my job!

This might just be my favorite PBL! 6th Sci students assessed the impact of pollution on seabird endangerment, & are raising awareness about the problem by creating collages of arctic terns from plastic they diligently collected! #HCS_Science @VWeLabs @glowforge @normalparkmm

(2/2) He taught students some technical skills: how to properly set/serve a table and how to carry a full tray. They put those skills to the test in the ⚡️Lightning Server Derby⚡️for a chance to earn a medal & prize! Everyone had a blast! @normalparkmm @HCSfutureready

(1/2) A very special guest speaker flew in from NY to teach my Career Ex class today! Rick Kuhar, Human Resource Director of the Hotel School at Cornell (& my DAD!😁), spoke about careers in hospitality and led students in a fun obstacle course. @HCSfutureready @normalparkmm

6th graders studied Ancient Egypt this quarter and drew cartouches of their names. Now they are teaching each other how to use the use the Glowforge to trace their drawings on acrylic. Later, they will paint the hieroglyphs and put their pieces on Exhibit!

In this epic cross-curricular PBL, 4th graders are applying their knowledge of the birth of the nation to build their own animal kingdom. In Art, students are drawing their animal in the style of Yayoi Kusama & using their drawings to laser cut a model in the eLab! @normalparkmm
