With Colorado expecting to grow by another 1.7 million people by 2050, we need a coordinated effort between state & local governments to grow in a more sustainable & affordable way. Our analysis shows that most local governments are already taking steps to meet or exceed state.

Of solid blue states, Colorado was #2 in homebuilding per capita in 2024 behind only Delaware πŸ‘. All that new supply is working to stabilize and even decrease housing costs, particularly in Denver where housing costs are down 2-5% YOY after rising nearly 50% from 2017 to 2023.

Is your state building housing? Here’s how many housing units were permitted per 1,000 residents in 2024. You’ll notice that many red states are booming, but only four blue states - Washington, Maine, Colorado, and Delaware - are above the nationwide median.

Colorado's e-bike rebates have been a huge success! .⚑️🚲 ⚑️. From a new survey of recipients - "More than 1/3 of respondents said they were taking 2-3 rides a week, with the next-largest group taking 4-5 trips a week.". This is a cost-effective tool to cut emissions, reduce.

Innovative new program in Denver will offer free e-scooter & e-bike rides to light rail stations to address the first/last minute challenge. Props to @RideRTD for getting this started!. Ultimately, we need a more integrated, multimodal transportation system - one where people can.

Excellent op-ed from CO State Rep. Rebekah Stewart on the benefits of Lakewood's zoning code proposal to expand housing choices by re-legalizing "missing middle housing". 🏑🏑🏑. These housing types cost $230,000 less than single detached homes in Lakewood. They also use less.

The time to trade in your gas car for an electric is now. Trump's bill will cut the federal EV tax credit after September 30th, and the state EV tax credit steps down January 1st (see slides below from the CO Energy Office). There are some smokin deals on EV leases right now

Helpful update from @Denverite on housing in Denver. The good news: Denver recently doubled its supply of new apartments, leading to the first sustained rent drop in 15 years πŸ₯³. Metro rents fell 3.7% this year while incomes continued to rise - a real win for affordability.

CDOT's expanded Bustang service is a real bright spot for Colorado's transportation system. Ridership has doubled since 2021 because of:. 1) New "Mobility Hub" bus stations on the highways mean the buses only stop for 30 seconds and they drive in the Express Lanes to bypass

This headline: "Cyclist killed at Denver intersection where a protected bike lane was proposed β€” but never built." . Very frustrating when everyone knows this is a life-threatening area, yet we won't take action until someone dies.

In many cases, these state laws serve as a policy floor, allowing local govts to respond in their own unique ways, in some cases going above & beyond the minimum requirements. Read the report for the full list of cities, along with stories and code examples from around the state.
