Spot on, John. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Problem is there’s not a will on the club’s part (and I’m sure they’re not the only club). Very much a ‘oh well, fend for yourselves’ mentality.
Some Aston Villa season ticket holders won't be at Villa Park on Saturday because they don't own a compatible device to access their ticket. A broader exemption criteria to the PL's digital ticketing must be established so loyal fans aren't excluded by tech barriers. #AVFC

Yeah, I know, it's naive of me to expect such a Utopian level of customer service. Good luck to everyone trying to access tickets and get into Villa Park for tomorrow's first match of the season against Newcastle United. Fingers crossed you crack it without too much stress. 🤞.

But wouldn't it be nice if our club made it their mission to be helpful, to reach out and assist those who really need assistance? What is simple for some, can prove to be anxiety-inducing for others. Wouldn't it be nice if support worked both ways? 🤗.

Alas, this is the real world, not an ideal world. Fans with decades of loyal support are essentially being told tough luck, buy a new phone & work it out. It's part of a Premier League directive, apparently, where a certain percentage of tickets must be digital by 2026-27. 🙄.

We've been contacted by several fans (mainly elderly ones, admittedly) stressed by the latest changes and extra faff to access tickets digitally via their phones. At the very least, issuing the tickets a week earlier would have been nice, rather than prompting last gasp panic 🤬.

In an ideal world, Aston Villa would make provision to supply plastic season cards to those supporters who most needed/wanted them, even if it meant an extra cost for fans. But this isn't an ideal world. It seems common sense and understanding are in short supply nowadays. ⚽️.
