Most would agree that parent engagement is important to the success of any young person in school, but failure to provide adequate interpretation services routinely excludes LEP parents, resulting in real harms for children and the erosion of trust between schools and families.

Forced to struggle through conversations in a language they do not understand or rely on their young children to interpret, parents can be left in the dark about significant aspects of their child's education including issues of safety and discipline.
