I also saw the dedication that goes into preparing for this job, with a training exercise that saw the team remove the roof of a car in order to get access to a trapped passenger.

We didn't just talk about their work, I saw it first-hand as we left the station at great speed to respond to an incident. I won't forget just how quickly and professionally they were able to respond. Thankfully everyone was fine with huge thanks to all of our emergency services.

One of the highlights of the summer recess was spending time with the Morley Blue Watch Team at Morley Fire Station. Our firefighters have been recognised as some of the top performers in the region and it was clear to see why during my time with them.
