I'm running for Mayor for my family & for families across San Francisco.
Over the past 5 years, I’ve watched our beloved City crumble.
I have a clear vision for a safer, cleaner, & more vibrant San Francisco.
Join our campaign today:
As Mayor, I will:
- mandate performance-based contracts for all nonprofits
- immediately audit our homelessness & community health & welfare budgets
- hold corrupt actors accountable
There's no excuse for this amount of corruption & waste to persist.
"Farrell’s specific proposals include:
- A zero-tolerance approach for all crime
- Clearing all tent encampments
- Shifting from a housing-first to a shelter-first approach
- Creating incentives for businesses that bring workers back downtown"
This is a gut punch & scary news for San Francisco.
We can’t afford another 4 years of failed leadership.
As Mayor, I will be aggressive & proactive in providing clean & safe streets, so that we make our downtown & City more welcoming for residents, businesses, & visitors.
The news of the Macy's closure comes at a politically sensitive time for Mayor London Breed, following a new poll commissioned by the Chronicle that shows Breed is at serious risk of losing reelection.
Mayor Breed should be embarrassed to promote this.
Anyone in SF can tell over the past 5-yrs that we have become a magnet for drug tourism because of our haphazard approach.
This happened on her watch + took an election yr for her to notice. More failed leadership.
Enforcing laws against public drug use is part of our strategy to shut down open air drug markets.
New data from those arrests – only 53% identify as SF residents & some from out of town are submitting false claims to access city funding. We need treatment and accountability.
I am the only candidate that called for auditing the City's homelessness spending + contracts on Day 1.
It shouldn't have taken years for the City to put corrective actions in place. Taxpayers & the homeless that went unserved deserve better.
After months of preparation, Aaron Peskin "launched" his campaign today w/ no new detailed policy solutions or vision for a stronger SF.
How can voters trust Peskin to turn our City around when he has been nonexistent on the City's top issues & is offering nothing new?
Congrats to the
@SFDemsForChange
slate for all the hard work they put in and for the strong showing in the early results.
We can drive the change we want to see and need San Francisco. It’s up to us and let’s keep it up!!
San Francisco can't afford another four years of sluggish recovery.
As Mayor, I will offer new incentives to businesses who require their employees back in the office at least 4 days a week + focus on providing clean & safe streets.
“Peskin is abusive, toxic, and a documented obstructionist to the progress San Francisco needs to make to get back on track,” Farrell said, adding that the board president has not been helpful in addressing public safety, housing or the local economy."
🚨BREAKING: Aaron Peskin will hold a rally Saturday in Chinatown to announce his run for mayor of San Francisco, according to multiple sources.
One of Peskin's staffers also helped file the permit to reserve Portsmouth Square.
Story by
@lihanlihan
& me.
Public safety will be my
#1
priority as your Mayor.
I announced detailed polices today to address our officer staffing shortage + public safety crisis.
Here are the facts:
- SFPD is down over 500+ officers on her watch
- Her budget 2 years ago cut $120M from SFPD
- Her last cadet class was 19 & several quit after the first week
- When I was Mayor + Budget Chair, we averaged 50+ cadets a class over five years
Our work to strengthen recruiting is paying off - we've increased pay, streamlined testing and hiring, expanded outreach & we have the largest academy class since the pandemic. This is great progress on our road to full staffing & we’ll continue this work.
Actually, I am being the candidate who is direct & honest with San Franciscans about the stark realities we face.
I am committed to launching a 24/7 centralized intake center, rapidly expanding our shelter system, getting people connected to services, & tents off our streets.
"We will never have enough money to build permanent affordable housing for everyone who is homeless...There will never be enough tax dollars to support that..."
@MarkFarrellSF
the candidate of just giving up.
Unfortunately, Mayor Breed has presided over the fastest deterioration of our police department in San Francisco history.
Actions speak louder than words. Compare our records for yourself.
Here are the facts
@LondonBreed
:
- you lost control of the Police Commission
- I can appoint & work with an interim Chief
- I won't use the Police Commission as an excuse to why we can't do things
We need a Mayor who doesn't make excuses. Time to act bolder & think bigger.
San Francisco ranks almost dead last in post COVID economic recovery.
Other cities were much earlier & aggressive in planning + working with the business community to protect jobs & help small biz.
We can't afford four more years of failed leadership.
I don’t believe that it’s progressive or compassionate to allow a record number of overdose deaths on our streets every single year.
I am the only candidate willing to take aggressive and bold actions to treat our fentanyl crisis like the dire emergency that it is.
NEW: San Francisco mayoral candidate
@MarkFarrellSF
vows that, if elected, he will ask California to send armed National Guard troops into the city to fight open-air drug markets
Perception is reality.
I am committed to taking aggressive actions to change the reality of the conditions of our streets to help restore SF's reputation on the world stage.
Our local economy and region can't afford another four years of failed leadership.
"I will not allow public safety budgets to be compromised or slashed because of mismanagement. It is the
#1
responsibility of City government, and my
#1
commitment as your Mayor."
I am the only candidate in the race that released new and detailed policies on day one to help make San Francisco a safer, cleaner, and more vibrant city.
"the poll found that former mayor and supervisor Mark Farrell — who officially announced his candidacy the day before polling began — would have the most support in the first round of ranked-choice voting"
San Francisco Mayor London Breed is at serious risk of losing her reelection bid, with a pair of challengers in close competition to unseat her and a majority of local voters holding negative views of her, a new poll commissioned by the Chronicle shows.
"He also called for a zero-tolerance policy for crime...& promised to clear all large homeless encampments...Other proposals touch on how to help those struggling with addiction, deal with garbage on the streets & hire more police officers..."
Key facts + takeaways from the poll:
- We're in 1st only four days after launch & would win if the election were held today
- We've overtaken candidates who have been campaigning for months & spent millions of $$$
It's still early, but let's keep it up. Now, back to work!
New
@sfchronicle
poll finds Mayor London Breed is in “serious trouble” when it comes to winning re-election.
71% said they disapprove of her job performance. They were more likely to pick Mark Farrell than her as 1st choice for mayor. By
@thejdmorris
.
The time for "talk" was prior to Mayor Breed/Peskin being caught off guard about Macy's announcement.
Why were they not aware an iconic flagship was considering leaving?
I will be a Mayor that is proactive, not reactive.
San Franciscans want leadership + results, not "talk."
NEW:
#SanFrancisco
officials are working to convince
@Macys
to remain in its flagship Union Square location longer than is currently planned.
Mayor
@LondonBreed
"had a conversation" with Macy's CEO last week, her office confirmed.
I love San Francisco. But, we do ourselves a disservice when we try to mask over the realities of the challenges we face.
Exhibit A: Residents & businesses shouldn't have to install a fence because of the City's failure to deter/stop illegal behavior.
I am the only candidate with private sector experience and that matters given the state of our local economy.
I am the only candidate proposing new incentives to bring workers & jobs back downtown & with detailed plans to provide clean + safe streets.
"We simply need to be more aggressive," argued Farrell. "There are parameters and exceptions in the court ruling that today allow for removal of these tent encampments. We need an aggressive and determined approach from City Hall to get it done."
“Bottom line, children deserve a safe environment to learn, and I don’t believe that someone needs to be walking through public safety issues or tent encampments on their way to kindergarten,” Farrell said.
A special shout out to my campaign manager
@JadeTu4SF
for winning a seat on the SF DCCC as part of the
@SFDemsForChange
slate!
Jade is fiercely committed to her community & fighting to make SF a safer, cleaner, & more vibrant city for all - proud to have her on my team!
Fentanyl is the most deadly drug we have seen, and it is time for new and bold approaches to save lives.
My plan will leverage city-owned property inside and outside of San Francisco to provide more access to treatment and a better chance at real recovery.
Public safety is the
#1
concern to voters citywide.
Yet, Mayor
@LondonBreed
directed her departments to provide 10% cuts for this year.
Plain and simple: this is a terrible decision.
Our public safety should not be put in jeopardy because of her poor fiscal management.
Another example of Mayor Breed's failed leadership.
The residents & businesses in the TL deserve clean & safe streets.
I will be aggressive & bold in clearing tent encampments, holding dealers accountable, & getting people the help they need.
One of my top priorities is to make SF the best city in the world to raise a family.
That's why today, I released new policies to:
1) improve 3rd grade literacy
2) make MUNI free for all youth
3) create clean + safe learning environments
Join-us:
I am committed to moving to a shelter-first approach as Mayor.
We won't ever have enough tax $$$ to provide all the permanent supportive housing we need.
Thx to
@RafaelMandelman
for holding the City accountable & working to ensure shelter for all.
I will be a Mayor for all San Franciscans & all of our diverse communities.
Our campaign will be working nonstop through Election Day to build a movement of voters who are committed to our vision of a safer, cleaner, & more vibrant San Francisco.
We were out in West Portal talking to
voters and building support!
Our campaign will be coming to a neighborhood near you soon!

Homeward Bound is one of the most cost-effective homelessness programs we have.
I quadrupled the program's budget as Budget Chair & Mayor.
Mayor Breed let the program wither to a shell of its former self, serving nearly three times fewer people.
The decision to deny the victim justice was not made in the interest of promoting public safety for all.
We need to call out violent behavior and actions that can make our communities less safe.
Every day our prosecutors go into court + fight for justice & public safety. Yet, almost daily they are met w/ staunch resistance within the courthouse. Not only was this victim denied justice, but all San Franciscans were left less safe today due to this reckless decision.
As the only candidate with any private sector experience, I will be a Mayor who our business community can trust.
I will help provide clean and safe streets and smart incentives to help revitalize our struggling economy and downtown.
Today is election day, & we are seeing record-low turnout.
There are important candidates & initiatives up & down the ballot that will affect the future of our City.
Don’t sit this election out! Find your nearest polling place:
"I think right now, Peskin-Farrell in some order — those are the two I think would be most likely at this point.”
How can we stop Peskin from becoming Mayor?
Don't vote for him + get involved/contribute today at:
“What I offer to San Francisco voters is holistically different than anyone else in the race,” Farrell told The Examiner. “It is a combination of over 20 years in the private sector...in addition to 7½ years of effective leadership in City Hall.”
“I believe the next mayor has to come in with a detailed set of policies that will grow our police force once again and...provide San Francisco residents with the belief that City Hall is focused on the safety of our residents."
There are signs of our momentum & support building in Chinatown!
I am joining Chinese community leaders & seniors today in Portsmouth Square to share our vision & plans to put public safety first, clean our streets, eliminate taxes for small biz, & help our families thrive.
Small businesses are the lifeblood of San Francisco.
Thx to Ed Siu & the Chinatown Merchants United Association of San Francisco for hosting me today.
I will be a Mayor that is committed to helping all of our diverse small businesses grow and thrive.
Actions & results speak louder than words.
Ask yourself: Is the state of our City better & stronger since Mayor Breed became Mayor?
If your answer is no, join our movement today to make SF safer, cleaner, & more vibrant for all of our families at:
Later this morning at 11 a.m. I will be delivering my State of the City Address to share my vision for San Francisco’s future. We have so much to be proud of, but our work is only building momentum. Watch live here:
I will partner w/ state/fed leaders to declare a fentanyl state of emergency, request more armed CA National Guard, & implement a bold recovery plan to save lives & close open-air drug markets.
My opponents are backing failed approaches - check out the differences for yourself:
Thx to
@Kr00ney
@CNBC
for the in depth conversation about my vision & policy platform for San Francisco as Mayor.
For everyone asking for more details about my plans - here's 25+ minutes of it (!) at the link here:
Mark Farrell, San Francisco, California
I had a chance today to spend some time today one on one with former San Francisco Mayor and current mayoral candidate
@MarkFarrellSF
. I made this portrait of him which I thought worked well with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.…
Street Conditions.
I will clear all large tent encampments & connect people to shelter & services.
I will combat our drug crisis & make our sidewalks clean and safe for everyone.
I stood in solidarity with our AAPI community today to rally for justice and against violence and hate, especially towards our elders.
Every person and community deserves to be and feel safe, and that will be my top priority as Mayor.
Public Safety.
I will fully fund public safety, hire a new Police Chief, fix our staffing shortage crisis, & take a zero-tolerance approach to crime, so residents, businesses, & visitors feel safe.
Our campaign had our first house parties this week!
It’s been great meeting with voters & answering their questions about our vision for a safer, cleaner, & more vibrant San Francisco.
We’re just getting started & have 100+ scheduled in the coming weeks & months!
While I cherished my time as supervisor, without question serving as the 44th mayor of the city and county of San Francisco for the past six months was my greatest honor - thank you, San Francisco!
"Mark Farrell...unveiled a package of proposals that he says will boost public safety, revitalize a beleaguered downtown, and revamp the city’s public image."
“I will work across the aisle and bring people together again to deliver real results on the issues that matter most to San Francisco,” Farrell said. “I won’t make excuses, and I take pride in knowing that the buck stops with me as Mayor.”
Our children's safety is my top priority.
As Mayor, I will fully fund at all
@SFUnified
schools:
- the installation of new PA systems
- doors that can lock from the inside
There is no justification for the City's failure to fully fund this already.
Our support is rooted in San Francisco:
- We received donations from all 11 Supervisorial districts
- Over 70% of all donations are from San Franciscans
- We confirmed 85 house parties for the coming weeks/months
But, we can't let up. Get involved:
Mark Farrell’s run for San Francisco mayor started with a bang by raising $200,000 in just two days, according to his campaign. That sum puts San Francisco on track to shatter the record for money spent on a mayor’s race.
Is this the right direction for SF that Mayor Breed was touting during her State of the City?
I am the only candidate w/ private sector experience + knows what it's like to make payroll.
I will help reboot our local economy + be a partner our business community can rely on.
I will be a Mayor that represents all San Franciscans.
Today, I was honored to announce that longtime Chinese community leader Sherman King will serve as our director of AAPI outreach.
I am also proud to announce new endorsements from over a dozen Chinese community leaders.
While Mayor
@LondonBreed
is in China, mayoral candidate and former interim Mayor
@MarkFarrellSF
made a major move to boost his support within the local Chinese community.
He announced a long list of Chinese American supporters & hired an Asian community campaign director.
Our campaign will not be beat on the ground.
Had a great week building support and engaging with residents + merchants from the Castro to Clement to Mission Bay.
I am glad that the public now knows that my opponents don't support fully funding the maximum amount of police academies to grow back our police force, my plan to clear the unnecessary recruit background check backlog, or providing incentives for 100's of officers to come back.
The differences btw the Mayor candidates re a fentanyl state of emergency + more state law enforcement - short summary:
Mayor Breed: no, keep the same approach
Daniel Lurie: same state of emergency as Mayor Breed + no additional state law enforcement
What a beautiful day for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade 🍀🍀🍀
Team Farrell had a blast celebrating all the great contributions the Irish have made for San Francisco!
Thx to the Potrero Dogpatch Merchants Association for having me today to discuss my vision & plans for how we can better support small businesses.
I am proposing eliminating local biz taxes for businesses making less than $5M in gross receipts to help more businesses grow.
Thx to all the residents who joined me yesterday in the Bayview for a picnic to talk about issues in their neighborhood + our plans to help make SF more clean, safe & vibrant.
We will fight for every vote in every neighborhood to win this November!
I will be funding a plan that will add 2,000 new trees in neighborhoods across SF over the next 2 years -- this strategy is an important step towards our ambitious goal to make SF carbon neutral by 2050.
#ClimateAction
"I'm running for mayor not to have City Hall conduct business as usual — I believe we need to challenge the status quo at every level," (Farrell) tells Axios."
To bring change to San Francisco, we need to back candidates that will help help get our city back on the right track.
That's why I am endorsing
@SFDemsForChange
for the SF DCCC.
Don't sit this election out & make your voice heard on March 5th!
The amount of momentum & support building for our campaign in just one month has been incredible - thank you - but we're not letting up on the gas!
Proud that we:
- Qualified for public financing
- Hit over 1,000 total donors + over 70% are from SF!
We're going to win this campaign by talking directly to as many voters as possible about our plans and vision for a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant San Francisco.
Thx to all of our house party/event hosts for organizing & looking forward to the 150+ more we have scheduled!
Being on the campaign trail & talking to voters everyday fires me up.
Our vision & plans for a safer, cleaner, & more vibrant SF are gaining more support by the day.
Thx to all of our event hosts this week. We have 100+ scheduled & we're just getting started!
Team Farrell was out building more support in Viz Valley today!!
Our vision for change and a future San Francisco that is safer, cleaner, and more vibrant is gaining more support by the day.

"The other top priority is the city’s finances. Voters will inevitably hear much about how Farrell’s professional background differentiates him from his mayoral rivals.
“The simple notion of being able to read a balance sheet or a P&L…that’s a unique skill set in City Hall.”
Mark Farrell is the early front-runner to be San Francisco's next mayor. But to get there, he'll have to pull off a difficult balancing act. I wrote about it for

I agree with community leader Bill Lee.
"Bill Lee, a former city administrator who closely watches Asian American politics, said Peskin is too far left of many of the city’s Asian voters on issues including education, housing and public safety."
"In addition to fostering economic development, Farrell hopes to prompt greater housing development, encouraging lower-cost housing in a city that has grown expensive to live in. He’s vowing to manage all this without alienating local communities."
We must also:
- audit all funds that have been collected & allocated for homelessness, like 2018 Prop C funds. & provide the public a full transparent report on how they have been spent (or more importantly, whether they have been spent at all)
“(Farrell) is someone with experience, someone who’s competent...& a track record of being able to fix our city,”
@JadeTu4SF
said.
“He also has private-sector experience. The other candidates don’t have that inside and outside experience at City Hall.”
San Francisco has not updated our overdose prevention plan since 2022....let that sink in.
As Mayor, I will:
- update our overdose prevention plan within my first year in office
- shift to providing more recovery-first options inside & outside of SF
"We have everything going for us except for leadership out of city hall. And so what we need is a mayor that will come forward and say, “enough is enough.”

I have & will continue to support building more housing across all of SF's neighborhoods.
I am the only candidate to release a detailed policy platform to address our housing shortage. My plan will meet the State's mandated goal + keep local control.
