If they join you bowriding, keep moving at a constant speed and allow them to leave without being pursued. They are easily disturbed so it is important to give them the space they need. #WildlifeWise #commondolphins #dolphinconservation #dolphinresearch

π©΅ Like other wild animals, common dolphins should be given lots of space, and be allowed to leave an encounter on their terms. If you spot common dolphins at sea, keep the volume down and turn off the #boat engine.

Common dolphins are often seen in large social groups, and are well-known for #bowriding and whistling as they do so. π Common dolphins are frequently seen in the #SouthWest. Our team have seem them the most in #Falmouth and #Torbay!

β΅ Through visual surveys from #sailing boats and land, as well as sound recorders we are gaining a better understanding of #marinemammals in the #SWUK to aid with conservation. Itβs exciting! #marineconservation #cetaceans #bioacoustics #Devon #ocean #dolphin #porpoise #whale

I use sound to listen for the whistles, moans and clicks of #marine mammals, and to measure #marinenoise. I love nothing more than being at sea with the wind in my hair, #dolphins bowriding, hearing the air reverberating with the sound of their whistles.

π My favourite marine experience was during last summer when I went on a sea life safari; I saw #bottlenosedolphins, #Rissosdolphins, #commondolphins, #harbourporpoises and a #minkewhale, all in one day!

π¦ My current interests are #sciencecommunication and #conservationphysiology. One of my favourite experiences happened earlier this year, during a placement in #SouthAfrica I was able to swim alongside 187 #RaggedToothSharks, they are my favourite #marinevertebrates!

π I am particularly interested in humpback whale vocalisations and how they are affected by #oceanographic changes. I have been #diving all over the world and fortunate to experience a diverse range of #marinehabitats firsthand,

I was also part of the @lamaveresearch Olive Ridley Turtle Project team for this nesting season that tagged olive ridley #seaturtles for the first time in the #Philippines! π I believe #marineconservation is all about getting as many people involved and interested as possible,
