Great meeting in Brasilia last week with my colleagues from the Ministry of Finance Undersecretary Antonio Freitas & G20 Coordinator Pedro Fachada. We discussed the upcoming Brazilian G20 Presidency and current global challenges for finance people.

On the international day of #biodiversity, I discussed with the federal agency in Brazil that acts as an environmental police (IBAMA) the need to cooperate with the FIU & law enforcement to follow the money from environmental crimes. For more see

Pleasure to meet with Deputy Governor of the Brazilian Central Bank, Maurício Costa de Moura, & Head of the Department of Conduct Supervision, Juliana Mozachi Sandri. We discussed sustainable finance, PIX, CBDC & financial flows from environmental crimes.

Excellent meeting with the President of the Brazilian FIU, Ricardo Liáo, & the Head of the Brazilian delegation to the FATF, Marconi Melo, in Brasilia. We discussed the current AML efforts & fighting illicit financial flows from illegal deforestation and illegal mining.

Arrived in Brasilia today, for talks on illicit financial flows from environmental crimes. If source, transit & destination countries follow the recommendations from the FATF July 2021 report, they can make a huge difference for our climate & biodiversity through the means of AML

Delighted to have joined the 1st meeting of the Senior Advisory Group to the EU Global Facility in Brussels Mo to Tue - the EU Commission’s instrument to support countries with strategic deficiencies in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CFT).

Good talk to EP’s APAs lately on.- the innovations of the AML package.- why we need ambitious but workable AML rules .- what conditions we should expect from AMLA’s location to ensure an effective supervisory work from day 1.- why Frankfurt excellently matches these criteria!
