Some more great points from yesterday’s sessions... These percentages show the number of students who got a 4 on the math EOG in 5th grade that make it to 8th grade algebra. Let that sink in.

Earlier this week students turned the date into a math problem. This prompted a big debate... “4x 5 is 20 but so is 20x1 and 2x10 so which do we put down? However, we know 3 is prime and can only be multiplied by 1 to get itself!” #MathDiscourse

We used VR last week to talk about Civil Rights and social change all in relation to our Module 3 study about Jackie Robinson. Loved seeing my students engagement and curiosity grow with the use of this incredible resource!

Starting a new thing in my classroom this week! “What in the World?” is a weekly world fact and current news event chosen by ss. Each week a new ss will find this weeks current news event/ fact. The goal is for ss to gain research skills and become more globally aware citizens!

We have been talking about changes in matter all week and today in science we made a cake in a mug! Students discussed the chemical change of heat/ baking and compared properties before and after the reaction that took place. Science is sweet!!!

Last week ss learned about states of matter by exploring its properties. Each ballon was filled w/ a different state of matter. Ss had to guess the state by observing its properties. At end of the lesson we discussed our observations and revealed what was inside! #ScienceMATTERs

This was the conclusion of our grateful tree! Each day of November students wrote one thing they were grateful for. In morning meeting we would share our leaves. This was definitely something that kept us all motivated before thanksgiving break! #ExercisingGratitude
