Earliest mention of the Haihaya Gaikwad Yadavas is found in the text Murti Prakash by Muni Keshiraja, 1288 CE. In this text the Gaikwad title is applied to Shri Krishna. Gaikwad means "The Protector". Such titles were applied to the Gods & Kshatriyas/Shahannava Kuli Marathas.
