I saw my friend Bryan’s copy of this the other day and knew I had to have it too. Nowlan is one of my inking heroes, and to have so many beautifully reproduced examples of his work is really inspirational.

I just bought The Art of Nestor Redondo and I’m blown away by his drawing ability and the beauty of his inks. I’m particularly struck by his rendition of vegetation; an amazingly expressive variety of marks.

Why is it that I can accept a kidnapped billionaire industrialist building a mechanised suit of armour in a cave, but a street full of cockneys suddenly bursting into complex dance numbers and songs has me hooting with disbelief?

I just learned of the death of Richard Corben; an artist who’s work I have always admired. He never lost it; his recent stuff retained the same furious energy and inventiveness as the work he was doing in the ‘ sixties and seventies.

Searching my "files" (shopping bags full of old takeout menus, parking tickets and random artwork), I found these from Marvel UK ; another Captain Britain page and a cover for Roid Rage, another abandoned project. Both inked by the talented Mr. Hitch

Here we go: a couple of pages from the abandoned Marvel UK Captain Britain project, pencilled by me and inked (brilliantly) by Bryan. It had a great opening, scripted by Dan Abnett. If I dig up the others we completed, I'll post them, too.

I just read that Mort Drucker died. The guy was a brilliant caricaturist and a gifted draughtsman. His work on Mad magazine’s satires was a real influence on me growing up.
