Technical Writer, Mom of 3, knitter/fiber artist, inquisitive human. Opinions are my own.

I've been pretty quiet here as I'm in between jobs and deciding what to do next, but I've been actively working on fiber art, including the piece I just wrote a post about. Have a look if you're curious about what the heck this is.

Great! Just great! Gallows humor is the best humor IMO because it helps when you need it the most.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has read Visual Complexity: Mapping Patterns of Information by Manuel Lima. (I'm only on chapter 2, BTW and it's already inspired me.) #fridaynight

In my personal correspondence, I use a lot of parentheses, ellipses, and em dashes (note the serial comma here; I'm a fan of that, too). I'm also very fond of semicolons; they are my favorite punctuation.

This weekend and early next week it'll be just me, Mr. Q, and Hengry, just like old times 5ish years ago.

One thing I seem to be great at: forgetting I've already created a docs ticket for something and creating a duplicate. Related: how many tickets in your backlog are too many to mindfully manage? I think the answer for me is maybe 25 (I have double that).

It's a 3 day weekend for me (USian) and I can't stop thinking about work. I went from supporting 2 products to support 7 in the span of a week, with at least one major product release per month. I can't do it all but am being asked to.

Why is there always at least one person who's forgotten to mute their mic on a big (>100 person) conference call?

I'm in OKR hell with a piece of performance management software isn't intuitive to use _at_all_ and all I can think of is Ridley in Alien: nuke it.

A friend shared this on another social network. My knee jerk reaction is "Ha! Doc fail!" Upon further reflection, there's not enough context to lay this at anyone's feet. It is still funny tho!

I never thought I'd praise or miss Word but here I (almost) am. Google docs doesn't have a convert text to table & vice versa tool. Export to text & massage from there it is!

My brain is full: time for a break. I would really like to have taken a walk but don't have the get-up-and-go to even put proper shoes on RN. Putting my phone down in 3 ... 2 ...

My feline co-worker, Eevee, has joined me at #writethedocs! I barely have room to take notes now 😂 Maybe she'll stay there for the pets Unconference session?

I have a new work supervisor, although she's really my husband's new supervisor, not mine.
