Mandarin lip reading. One sentence. Total failure. The real line was “running makes your nipple sore.”

Nailed it! Noise cancelling headphones and lip reading. Started rude but we got there. This is our new favourite on podcast game now. #englishlanguagelearning #mandarinmonkey #Mandarin #Chinese

We started playing this on the podcast and thought it was loads of fun. In both Mandarin and English. We started easy. #chinese #mandarin #languagelearning #learnmandarin #learnchinese #mandarinmonkey

I'm not sure that learning a language is about motivation, I think it is more about disipline. No one WANTS to get up early everyday and dive in ice water and do a 5k. BUT you have to have disipline to do it anyway. And on that note... go study some Mandarin!

Tom tries the Chinese tongue twister “十四只石狮子.” He fails spectacularly. Can you say it right? #ChineseTongueTwister #LearnMandarin #MandarinMonkey

What started as “how to say chicken” in Mandarin… turned into a potential criminal confession. 鸡肉 (jīròu) = chicken meat 七十五公斤的鸡肉 = 75 kilograms of chicken meat

This Chinese tone test comes suspiciously close to a well known song Tom: Translate this for me. “Dad.” Ula: 爸爸 (bàba) Tom: “Dad holds.” Ula: 爸爸抱 (bàba bào) Tom: “Dad holds banana leaves.” Ula: 爸爸抱芭蕉葉 (bàba bào bājiāo yè) Tom: “Dad holds eight banana leaves to wrap
