In 2019, Maluk Timor has trained 12 doctors to improve diagnosis and management of TB through side-by-side mentoring in government-run TB clinics. In 2020, this will double as Maluk Timor's 24 Family Medicine trainees will rotate through our programme.

Behind every Maluk Timor programme are some amazing supporters. Mike and Kate Ribot have generously donated a training scholarship that has enabled us to hire a Timorese doctor to our team for 2020, all in honor of Mike's mother Valerie Coomer's battle with TB in 1950s Australia

Did you know that Timor-Leste has the second highest new rates of TB per population in South East Asia, and the seventh highest in the world? Maluk Timor partners with the National TB programme and other NGOs to eliminate this treatable disease through a multipronged approach.

In 2019 Maluk Timor raised awareness about TB for 2000 people waiting at outpatient departments. Lack of knowledge and easy transmission are huge barriers to eliminating TB in Timor-Leste. In 2020, we are excited to work with our Nursing Team to implement a Cough Triage system.
