An absolutely shrewd move to reach out to and to develop relations with Mongolia, which borders China & Russia. Full credit to Prime Minister @narendramodi & his strategy team to recognise the importance of building new relationships with strategically proximate countries. This

Was a privilege to participate in a lively panel discussion on “ Women In the Media” @IIC_Delhi last Saturday, October 11. Coming as it did just after the Afghanistan Foreign Minister’s press conference excluding women journalists, it gave us the opportunity to point out that

Without a doubt America’s maverick 79 year-old President @realDonaldTrump has pulled off the impossible. Getting the horrendous Gaza situation under control and opening a new peace track for Israel and its neighbours is a rare feat that puts @POTUS up there with the greatest US

All’s well that ends well. Female journalists invited to the Taliban Foreign Minister Muttaqi’s press conference. Good for the Government of India who most certainly made him understand that the new entente between the two countries needs the goodwill of the Indian public.

This should be a wake up call for us as females- diplomats & journalists. If this is not outrightly condemned or distanced from by those in power, it will be seen as enabling this blatant misogyny & a setback for confidence in the democratic structure of governance of our nation.

Agree. And we as news organisations should not cover these press conferences where female journalists are barred. Media should not carry the reports of the Taliban Foreign Minister’s meetings in Delhi.

Sad that after all the hype, women are not even a demographic that counts in the nation’s strategic calculus. Gender apartheid clearly less concerning than race or caste!

No Woman Journalist invited to the press conference by Muttaqi. No reference to the horrible plight of Afghan girls and women under Taliban regime in opening remarks of EAM Jaishankar or the joint statement issued after talks with Muttaqi. Muttaqi getting the red carpet welcome
