The powers and principalities have always sought to rule through greed and domination. The Church has always been called to be an alternative community of economic solidarity, creative anti-violence and prophetic truth-telling. That doesn’t stop now. The world needs to see it.

The Beast is Beast-ing. So what do we do? Well, thankfully the New Testament was written in an age of authoritarianism. Plus we’ve only been in a near-semblance of a representative democracy for the last few decades in this country. It has always been precarious.

The Big Beautiful Bill will weaken the social safety net. The poor will likely get poorer and those who are on the cusp will likely fall off the cliff when they have even less support. Oh. And there’s the other authoritarianism stuff. To use the language of Revelation,

Things are going to get bad. They already are. But I have hope.🧵 CEOs are looking at AI and already getting rid of jobs. The entry-level white collar sector is starting to evaporate, exemplified by the higher rate of unemployment for 22-26 year olds.

So… There is nothing in the Bible about supporting the current nation-state of Israel…mostly because it didn’t exist when the Scriptures were written. But also because there’s nothing about supporting any nation-state whatsoever.

I hear this Malcolm dude even put all of his thought into a short and accessible book for Christians everywhere called The Anti-Greed Gospel. Just sayin.
