Why can't the Fed fix inflation? Quick history lesson.
Inflation hit a whopping 14.8% in March 1980.
Paul Volker was Chair of the Fed and hiked rates all the way from 11.2% in 1979 -> 20% in June 1981.
This caused a recession and people were PISSED.

Agreed but Fed would need to raise rates to higher than current inflation numbers to get out in front. Say 10%? But then US couldn’t service the debt since it’s financed with T Bills. Bottom line - US economy isn’t strong enough to withstand the fix for inflation

Using Preview on Mac resulted in screen sharing that either went full screen so I couldn't see who I was talking to (when on my laptop) or looked like one of these below when I'm home. Not a great experience

I think you’re right except if BOJ blinks and rates rise, the Yen should theoretically appreciate except then Japan may not be able to service their debt, likely resulting in more devaluation and Yen gets crushed anyway. Might be off on these dynamics though
