Just totted up what we’ve spent on the arable to get to harvest this year - just shy of £700,000 to try and get £800-850,000 back (weather dependant) makes you feel a bit sick!! 🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲

Absolutely right that high animal welfare systems are used on British farms. But there are additional costs and/or lower productivity - so for the rug to be pulled from under producers by allowing free-for-all egg imports is outrageous. 🐓
Another day in the litany of broken promises to UK farmers & consumers on food trade. Green light given to importation of battery-cage produced eggs, illegal in UK since 2012 on welfare grounds. Who in UK is demanding lower food standards? https://t.co/PnGXEAQY0m

What an amazing job Mrs H has done again this year. Fresh flowers for the house, beans, courgettes, tomatoes, salad leaves, raspberries, logan berries, rhubarb, spuds; I’m just here to weed and soak up the tranquility of the allotment.
