God hides nothing. His very work from the beginning is revelation — a casting aside of veil after veil, a showing unto men of truth after truth. On and on, from fact to fact divine He advances, until at length in His Son Jesus, He unveils His very face.

To say Thou art God, without knowing what the Thou means—of what use is it? God is a name only, except we know God.

God could not be satisfied with himself without doing all that a God and Father could do for the creatures he had made—that is to deliver his sons and daughters and bring them home with rejoicing.

God shows us the good and the bad; urges us to be good; makes good thoughts and good desires in us; but we must yield; we must turn to Him; we must consent to be made good.

But herein is the Bible itself greatly wronged. It nowhere lays claim to be regarded as the Word, the Way, the Truth. The Bible leads us to Jesus, the inexhaustible, the ever unfolding Revelation of God.

For that which cannot be shaken shall remain. That which is immortal in God shall remain in man. The death that is in them shall be consumed. It is the law of Nature—that is, the law of God—that all that is destructible shall be destroyed.

When we say that God is Love, do we teach men that their fear of Him is groundless? No. As much as they fear will come upon them, possibly far more…The wrath will consume what they call themselves; so that the selves God made shall appear.

The man is perfect in faith who can come to God in the utter dearth of his feelings and desires, without a glow or an aspiration, with the weight of low thoughts, failures, neglects, and wandering forgetfulness, and say to Him, “Thou art my refuge.”.

Now hate keeps it's object present even more than the opposite passion. Love makes everything lovely; hate concentrates itself on the one thing hated.

In God shall we imagine a distinction of office and character? Every attribute of God must be infinite as himself. Mercy, for example, cannot be temporary but eternal.

The man who refuses to assert himself, seeking no recognition by men, leaving the care of his life to the Father, and occupying himself with the will of the Father, shall find himself, by-and-by, at home in his Father’s house, with all the Father’s property his.

Many persons’ stories are full of outward events but almost barren as to inward development. They are histories of the man or woman’s circumstances, not of the man or woman himself.

The man who would spare due suffering is not wise. Because a thing is unpleasant it is folly to conclude it ought not to be. There are creations to be perfected, sinners to be redeemed, through the ministry of pain.

The greatest good lies in doing what Christ did himself, giving the energy of life to delivering men out of their lonely self-centeredness into the liberty of becoming sons of God.
