NEW: Texas Tech PD sent me a correction: “There was a knife that was handed to the Texas Tech Police Department on the field.” And I’m starting to see why Kansas was not happy with how officials were handling the situation.
A Texas Tech PD Spokesperson told me earlier today before the TTU statement: "There was not a knife handed over to the Texas Tech Police Department." A Texas Tech official told @CollieronTV today that the knife was "turned over to TTPD." That seems odd to me. 🤔

Texas Tech tells me they have watched the video internally and have responded to an inquiry from the Big 12. They expect a response in 24 hours.
A Texas Tech official has confirmed a closed pocketknife was discovered on the KU sideline Saturday. It was given to Texas Tech, then turned over to TTPD. Athletics is currently reviewing gameday video. Tech has reported the incident to the Big 12 & does not anticipate a fine.

Texas Tech has told me multiple police departments are at the game. There are officers from South Plains College and the Texas Rangers on sideline. It’s very possible the knife was handed over to one of them (hence TTU PD not knowing)
