Torey Noel has been named the new head boys basketball coach at Midwest City High School. Noel is a Midwest City High School graduate who went on to play at Lamar University. He also previously served as an assistant at Midwest City and Choctaw high schools.

Carl Albert High School plans to dedicate its football stadium after former coach Gary Rose. The school is currently renovating the stadium and will dedicate the stadium Sept. 13 before the game with Del City. The Titans home will be known as Gary Rose Stadium Harris Field.
Mid-Del teachers, students and staff are marching to the state Capitol this morning as part of the teacher walkout. The large group left Del City High School just after 7 a.m. They are being escorted by Del City police and firefighters.
Mid-Del Schools brought home a pair of state championship trophies. Carl Albert beat Lawton MacArthur 70-49 for their first since 2016. Del City followed that up with a thrilling 47-44 win over Edmond Memorial in the 6A boys finals. It was the Eagles first since 1980.

Midwest City native Will Sunderland has signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent. The former Bomber standout played two seasons at Oklahoma before finishing his college career at Troy.

Del City’s Keyondre Young was named the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year and the MVP for team Oklahoma in the Faith 7 game. Young scored 17 points and had 9 rebounds in the game.

The City of Midwest City is now requiring that all staff at restaurants, bars, night clubs and food services wear face masks or coverings while on duty. The ordinance is effective today through Sept. 30.

The Midwest City Council approved a public mask ordinance at tonight’s meeting. The ordinance is effective immediately and will continue through Sept. 22.
Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell who visited Del City High School Tuesday evening has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski. Mid-Del Schools said a small number of students and staff were present during the player's shoot around.
The Carl Albert boys are the Cornerstone Bank Mustang Holiday Classic champions. The Titans beat Midwest City in the finals 71-64. James Locke was named the tournament MVP. Quentin Woodson and Midwest City’s Kevin Overton earned all-tournament honors.

ELECTION RESULTS: All three of the Mid-Del School District’s $492.7 million bond proposal passed with more than 75% of the vote, according to district officials.
Final results will be posted later this evening as they are reported by the state election board.

Dr. Sylvia Kirk has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Mid-Del School Board. Kirk was a longtime educator and administrator with Mid-Del Schools. She served as principal at Carl Albert High School from 1998-2011 and retired from the central administration in 2016.

Midwest City boys punch their ticket to the Class 5A state tournament with a 95-89 win over Guthrie in double overtime. The Bombers rallied from 12 down in the fourth to force overtime. Deshawn Denson hit eight free throws in overtime to seal the win.

Del City boys top Edmond Santa Fe 61-52 to win the Bishop McGuinness Classic. Terry McMorris led with 23 points and Brandon Garrison had 20 points. McMorris was named the MVP and Garrison and Jamouri McCalister were selected to the all-tournament team.

Del City High School senior Jeff Foreman signed to play football at Arkansas State this morning during a ceremony at the John Smith Fieldhouse. He was joined by brother Jack and mother Rhonda, coach Mike Dunn and several teammates.
