Mark & Lesley shared lots of photos for International Orang-utan Day on Tuesday! This is A-mei who lives in Tuan's group, & was rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in Taiwan. She is often distinguishable by her "bedhair", with woodwool in her hair well into the midmorning!

as a baby for a pet, then got so big he escaped or was let out. Jeremy met Tuan when he arrived at Pingtung rescue centre, and although he was scared and angry, Tuan calmed down quickly. He is now a kind male to the females in his group.

As it's #InternationalOrang-utanDay tomorrow, this week we're looking at all our orange cousins and their rescue stories!.Tuan is a male Bornean Orang-utan who was rescued from Taichung city, in Taiwan, where he had been found loose. He had probably been smuggled from the wild.

It has been a steep learning curve for her, but she again proves what we know, that chimps need their own kind, and thrive best in their family. With thanks as always to @WilliamHoldenWildlifeFoundation and Chocolat's adoptive parents for supporting her ongoing rehabilitation.

of her own family, we were really not sure how much to expect from her. but she has blown us all away with her resilience!. She has forged relationships with all the chimps in Bryan's group (pictured here with Kangoo), and now is enjoying the summer in the outside enclosure.

A year ago today, Chocolat arrived at Monkey World! . She was a victim of the bush meat trade, and partially paralysed from the hunting that killed her family, when she was just a baby. With her disability, and having not lived with others of her own kind since the tragc loss.

Peppa was rescued from Spain, where she was abused as a photographer's prop. She was made to "perform", rolling & smoking cigarettes and pouting for cameras. We sometimes see these sad reminders of her past- but for the main she is a quiet but happy chimp, with a few close pals.

#FridayFavourite this week comes from PCS Ali, who nominates marmoset Douglas as #PrimateOfTheWeek! Douglas recently had a falling out with his paired pal, Jangles, and while Jangles has found a new friend, Douglas has moved into the house next to the saki monkeys
